About Us

Suri Vidyasagar College, established in 1942 as a branch of Vidyasagar College, Kolkata, and named after the renowned social reformer Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, has completed 80 years of service. It became an independent degree college in 1948 under Calcutta University and has been affiliated with the University of Burdwan since 1960. Located in a historically rich but relatively underdeveloped region, the college is dedicated to imparting quality higher education, fostering research, and promoting extracurricular activities. Notably, its illustrious alumni include Shri Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, former President of India. The college's NSS and NCC wings actively contribute to social reforms and personality development, furthering its mission of holistic education and societal benefit.
